Kyoto

Going to Kyoto

With the lull in COVID cases, complete lack of foreign tourists and not quite Red Leaves season yet, we decided it was a once in a lifetime chance to experience Kyoto. We packed our bags, booked two weeks of accommodation and went for it. With demand so low, hotels were dirt cheap, going 80% cheaper than it usually is. It is only my third time in Kyoto, but still looking very forward to it.

A quiet Kyoto

Kyoto was not empty, but quiet. There are a decent amount of travelers coming from all over Japan to take advantage of the lack of foreign tourists. Outside of the main of the most famous touristy places like Kiyomizu, Kinkakuji, Fushimi Inari, the city is oddly quiet. Walking around, half the hotels and guest houses seem closed, many of the restaurants are temporarily shut. At night only locals are hanging out.

A beautiful Kyoto
